We went to see the new Blade Runner sequel over the weekend. After giving this some thought, I think I like many of the individual bits more than I liked the movie as a whole. The setting and the music are top-notch. The photography is very good. While most of the characters are pretty good, […]
This is a tough one. Look at a site like Rotten Tomatoes and you will see very high ratings from critics coupled with very low ratings by the general public. This definitely falls into the “love it or hate it” category.
As the year winds down it’s that time once again for reflection on the year past. Time to mentally catalog the past year and look forward to the upcoming year. Travel-wise it was a mixed year. This was a year of small weekend getaways instead of big trips. This is the first year in the […]
I’ve seen a couple of good movies over the last week and that got me to thinking that I should start making notes of the good ones that I’ve seen so far this year. I’m sure I’m already forgetting something. Inception trailer Written and directed by Christopher Nolan who also made Memento, this one is […]

I don’t remember many laugh-out-loud moments during Zombieland, but I did have a smile plastered on my face pretty much throughout the movie. Definitely worth the price of admission.
This movie takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa. Hovering above the city is a huge alien spaceship. The image reminds me of the cover art for Arthur C. Clarke’s Childhood’s End. This film reminds me of that story, and others of it’s era. Many films use a science fiction setting as an excuse to use […]
Creative Loafing had a headline stating Public Enemies was the “Best Movie of the Year (so far).” I thought that was an endorsement of the film, but it turns out that it was a condemnation of the rest of the years’ films to date. It’s not that Public Enemies is a bad film, it’s not. […]
